Perla Armaly graduated as a B.Arch from the Technion and perused her second passion for design as a UX UI designer.
She is passionate about multiscalar design and is driven by a will to promote sustainability.
Research Topic: Biomanufacturing of Architectural Prototypes with Cyanobacteria
Through an interdisciplinary approach between architecture and biology, biodesigner Perla aims to reduce industrial production waste and GHG emissions. She investigates the integration of cyanobacteria in an additive co-fabrication process that utilizes its natural abilities in photosynthesis, calcium precipitation, and carbon fixation. By developing a biocompatible biomixture she aims to replace cement concrete with an architecturally performing Cyanobacteria-based cement that is able to fixate carbon dioxide and solidify the printed components.
